Getting Started In Website Marketing

Getting Started With Website Marketing

The Internet is a fantastic way to put a message out to a lot of people and repeatedly present your message automatically without any effort on your part. This is because of the concept of the world wide web and the use of search engines to locate pages of interest. This can be used to an advantage in marketing materials for sale on the internet.

By creating a website, presenting your articles for sale in an attractive and informative nature, and displaying that website to people who are searching to buy what you are selling, you can be successful at website marketing.

It is the challenge of doing both of these things cost effectively that presents the biggest obstacle to selling products on the internet. First, you have to have a website that gives the user some reason to visit it, and second, you have to create it such that when a search engine is used to search for the products you are selling, it finds and displays your website near the top of the list. And you have to spend less amount of mone accomplishing these two things than you receive in the sale of your product.

Website marketing can be broken down into these three steps:

1. Selecting what products to sell

2. Creating a compelling advertisement for those products and placing it on the internet.

3. Drawing visitors to that site where the advertisement is who want to buy that item.

What To Sell

This can be difficult to decide. Choosing something that is in great demand is one strategy, also choosing something you know a lot about is a good idea. On the other hand, if you choose something in great demand, you will probably have a lot of other competitors advertising the same product and will have to spend a lot of money to get your ad displayed before theirs.

A good guide to use in deciding what to sell is Make Your Site Sell 2002 at http://www.store.u-seek-it.com/sales_pages/make_your_site_sell.htm. This guide also gives a lot of tips on how to make your site attractive.

You can decide to sell basically three types of products on the internet:

1. Physical goods.

2. E-books and software.

3. Either of the above which are other people's products. In this case you only place advertisements for the products and receive a commission when a sale is made. This is referred to as being an affiliate.

If you want to sell physical goods, you don't necessarily have to stock them and ship them yourself. You can use a drop shipper. This is a manufacturer who agrees to ship his items for you to your customer when you make a sale. One reference to good sources of drop shippers is The Drop Ship Directory at https://www.worldwidebrands.com/wwb/ordernow_rd.asp.

An E-book is an electronic book, a document, usually in PDF format (See www.adobe.com) that you sell on the internet. A good guide on creating your own Ebook without ever writing one word is Create Your Own Ebook The references table below describes how to obtain this book.

If you decide to sell the goods yourself, you can set up an online store. There are many sources which sell prepackaged solutions including your web hosting and the store itself and tools to manage it. One good provider is Site Build It at http://www.store.u-seek-it.com/sales_pages/site_build_it.htm.

If you decide to sell other people's goods, one good affiliate program is www.clickbank.com. There you can advertise other people's products and get paid a commision up to 60% of the sales price. You can also place your own products on clickbank and have other people advertise your products. To find out about this, go to http://www.store.u-seek-it.com/sales_pages/clickbank_seller.htm.

Placing your advertisement on the Internet

You can either build your own website and put ads for the affiliate products you are selling there, or you can use Google AdWords to advertise on the Internet. The Google search engine (See www.google.com) returns paid search results first before the other results it finds. So you can pay Google to return and ad for the product you are selling when people search for certain key words you choose. You bid on the keywords, like example you bid to pay $.10 if someone searches for e-book and they click on your ad for your e-book. Several good reference guides to using Google Adwords are Google Cash, Google Profits, Google Made Me Rich, and Mastering Google Adwords. The reference table below explains where you can obtain these.

Drawing Visitors To Your Website

Whether you have a website that just lists other people's products for sale or is an online store, you need to have a way of bringing people to visit it on the web. The most common way that people find things on the web is using a search engine, like www.google.com, www.yahoo.com, or www.msn.com.

All of these search engines have ways of finding your website and ranking it to determine how high up on the list of found sites it will be shown. Ways that they find your sites is by finding links to your site from other people's sites. Ways you can get links to your site from other people's sites are by placing your site in online directories, or joining a link exchange program where you place a link on your site to another site in exchange for them doing the same for you.

These are some link exchange sites you can join. Most of them are free.
http://www.linkalizer.net, http://www.linkmarket.net, http://www.simplylinking.com, http://www.linkmetro.com, http://www.gotlinks.com.

Some directory sites you can try are www.linketeria.com, www.abilogic.com, www.searchsite.com, www.siteinclusion.com, www.siteranking.com.

Another way to get the search engine to find your site is something called Search Engine Optimization, or SEO. What this means is building your site in such a way that the search engines consider it a valuable resource for the keywords people search on when they find it. Some good resources for doing this are SEOElite, a software program, Search Engine Fast Start, Little Known Secrets - Search Engines, and Get A Top 5 Ranking on Google. See the references section.

The best way to draw people to your site is to add valuable content to it so they want to visit it. There is a pre-packaged website that contains over 25000 freely downloadable articles called the Article Directory Cash System. See the reference section for how to obtain it.

Palm TX Handheld

Palm TX Handheld
Created for today's fast-paced mobile landscape, the sleekly lightweight Palm TX handheld keeps you connected to your most important data--from email to files stored on your office PC--while you're away from your desktop with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless connectivity. It also features a high-resolution 320 x 480-pixel screen (with portrait and landscape orientation modes), a fast Intel 312 MHz ARM-based processor, expansion slot for Secure Digital (SD), MultiMedia (MMC), and Secure Digital I/O (SDIO) cards. The 128 MB of non-volatile flash memory (of which approximately 100 MB is available for files and software) protects your documents and information, even if the device is not charged and the power runs down. And, of course, the Palm TX features Palm's suite of information management applications, the ability to edit Word- and Excel-compatible files, and synchronization with Microsoft Outlook (Windows only).

Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Wireless Connectivity
Stay connected easily when you're on the go with the built-in Wi-Fi wireless connectivity (802.11b), which enables you to access email and browse the Web at hotspots such as at coffee shops and in airports, or in your office if you have a wireless LAN network. You can even retrieve documents from your main computer with the included WiFile LT software. The Palm TX also comes the following enhancements:

  • Added ability for the device to scan for available networks
  • Improved connection logic to automatically connect to available compatible networks
  • Three steps to easily set up a new network connection
  • A free 30-day subscription to all T-Mobile Wi-Fi hotspots
With built-in wireless Bluetooth connectivity (version 1.1), you can synchronize the Palm TX with a Bluetooth-enabled computer from across the room (within a range of 10 meters, or approximately 30 feet). But that's just the start. Using a compatible Bluetooth-enabled phone, you can send and receive e-mail and connect to the Web, send multimedia (MMS) or text (SMS) messages, and even automatically dial any number in your handheld's Contact's application. (You can also synchronize data the "old-fashioned" way via the USB connection at the base of the handheld.)

For mobile professionals, the Palm TX provides all the conveniences of managing email on the road. With Wi-Fi access or Bluetooth technology, you can check corporate or campus email as well as personal accounts; download, read and edit a Word or Excel report on the fly; synchronize Outlook contacts, calendar, tasks and memos; and work with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, using VersaMail software, to synchronize email and calendar

Expansion Capabilities
The expansion card slot for MMC, SD and SDIO formats lets you insert a memory card from a digital camera and view photos on the large, color display; you can even can add transitions between photos and present them as a slideshow. The Palm TX handheld's compatibility with SD Cards up to 2GB lets road warriors carry a few favorite home videos and be entertained on long trips.

Support for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files
With the included DataViz Documents To Go software, you rehearse your PowerPoint presentation discreetly in an airport, make last-minute changes to a Word document, and check the numbers in an Excel spreadsheet and update them on the spot. The Palm TX comes with support for native Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files. And with the included Adobe Reader for Palm OS, you can download and view converted Acrobat files.

Multimedia
The Palm TX comes bundled with Pocket Tunes MP3 player for playing music files or Podcasts, which allows you to create and edit play lists, shuffle songs and navigate by album, artist or genre. The Palm TX also includes built-in software for viewing digital photos and video clips. And with MobiTV software (sold separately), you can view a wide range of television programs, including news, sports and entertainment, directly on the Palm TX handheld.

Operating System and Software
Veteran Palm OS handheld users will immediately notice the new Favorites view, which provides easy access to applications, files, and folders. The installed Palm OS 5.4 also introduces the Files application, which enables easy navigation among folders and files. It uses the intuitive and easy-to-learn Graffiti 2 writing software to input data into the handheld (as well as an on-screen keyboard). Windows users can synchronize their calendar, contacts, tasks, and notes with Microsoft Outlook. The Palm OS features the following organizer applications:

  • Contacts: Lets you store several addresses for each contact, and with new fields for more phone numbers, multiple e-mail addresses, instant messenger IDs, and Web sites.
  • Calendar: Use the new Agenda view to see upcoming calendar events, tasks due, and important e-mail, and color-code your events to provide an easy way to reference your calendar in the Agenda, Day, Week, and Month views. Take more notes, or synchronize more details from your desktop, in the larger Memos and Notes fields.
  • Tasks: Use tasks with alarms and repeating tasks to set reminders for important commients.
Compatibility
The Palm TX is compatible with PCs running Windows Windows 2000 (SP4) and XP (Outlook synchronization requires MS Outlook 2000, 2002, or 2003; sold separately), and with Macs running Mac OS 10.2.8 to 10.4.

Customer Review: Good Features, Poor Screen Calibration

I bought this as an upgrade from my Tungsten T3 that I had finally given up on due to an issue with the screen loosing it's calibration. The TX model's wifi worked beautifully with my home network (Linksys WT54G) wireless router. The screen was very bright, battery life was average for a Palm device. I purchased a keyboard to go along with this device. I was aiming to reduce the need for a desktop PC and the weight of a laptop as most of my computing is done online and within MS Office applications.

The keyboard and the TX's communication was touch and go at best. I gave up and the keyboard sits in my night stand drawer.

The the screen calibration started to get funky. I removed the screen protector, cleaned under the bevel of the casing as suggested by many internet sites and still no resolution. Other then the screen calibration (which has become unbearable @ 2x or more daily) the device is wonderful.

The speaker on the back is a horrible design IMO.

I've decided to shop for a Pocket PC based PDA and sell this device on auction to recoup some of the cost of the next purchase I make. Research the screen calibration issue online before purchasing this device. If you are Palm loyal, then moving to Windows Mobile may be a difficult decision, but if this is your first PDA, consider a windows mobile device. Granted they crash more often than a Palm ever will, but at least you are used to that with your desktop. A mis-calibrated screen will render this device unusable.

Customer Review: Gotta Love this thing. Couldn't manage without it

I used a a few different Clie (the Sony version of PALM) and always really liked them.

But the PALM T|X I think is better.

Of course, the use of calender and address book is intuitive and the

WI-FI works great (which I found out during my break on Jury Duty (yeah! they have WI-FI in court here now!)

I love looking for new (and usually free) applications to play around with (Tip Calculator, Unit Conversion, Knot Tying displays). My favorite game is Bike or Die. It is great to relieve boredom and not an easy game.

I also find no end to creative uses. I'm a photographer and sometimes shoot archival photos for theater. So, I film the show, vidcap images I want into a memory card & transfer them to my PALM. Then I can go to the photo shoot, show them the pictures on my PALM and say "Get in this scene." It cuts 75% of prep time off each photo.

I would also recommend getting the top flip Rhino Skin. I was running with my PALM in my coat pocket and it fell out onto the sidewalk the first week I had it. Even the sound of the PALM hitting the ground sounded like it wasn't going to be hurt. Sure enough, it was fine.

That's more than I can say for my poor repeatedly cracked cell phone.

So, anyone who doubts switching from Clie (I don't even think they're around anymore), have no fear. Switch over. A Palm store even switched all my info over for free.

Oh yeah! The screen switching to horizontal makes reading documents in the T|X a lot more pleasant. And thank you for making a left handed option!

I do have a few issues.

When I first bought the PALM, it had this application called Addit.

Every time you HOTSYNC, it would give you the days news from Reuters.

Not only was this great when I didn't want to carry a magazine, it also motivated me to HotSync every day.

But Reuters stopped doing it a couple months after I bought the PALM. Now I usually don't Hot Sync more than once a month.

I also don't think the plastic screen covering that comes with the PALM works too well. Often, trying to make a "T" turns into an "l" and a space. But I worked on another persons T|X and it was WAY easier. So I think I need another protective cover.

I suppose I shouldn't expect it, but the videos have tended to run slow if they are too big (and I'm talking YouTube quality). I actually haven't tried to play video on it for awhile, so I might not know what I'm talking about.

Over all. Great Product.

Fist of Fury

Fist of Fury
Customer Review: Donnie Yen as Chen Jen

I know this movie was originally a tv series spanning about 28 episodes. How Tai Seng managed to cram all that into 120 minutes is beyond me. But what I saw made sense, probably because I already knew the original Bruce Lee storyline. I have never seen the original Donnie Yen episodes, only this very editted version, so I cannot be bias and say that this movie [stunk] compared to the tv series. Until I can somehow get my hands on the tv series, I'll have to be content with this movie version. I thought overall it was rather enjoyable, though I did think that the storyline did jump around quite a bit. What I was looking at was mostly the fighting, which I thought was great. Other than some of the fights being ridiculously sped up, I thought it was up to the Donnie Yen standard. Yen blends his own style and Bruce Lee's style, most notably the Hiyaa-wah sounds. Being a big fan of Bruce Lee's "Fist Of Fury" and Jet Li's "Fist Of Legend", Yen's version isn't bad at all. I am hoping to find the 28 episode series soon, so I can better understand the full story of Yen's retelling of Chen Jen and the Ching Wu school.

Data Backup 3 By Prosoft Engineering

Data Backup 3 By Prosoft Engineering
Data Backup 3 is the new update to the simple, automated backup solution. It features a new user interface, the ability to backup to multiple CDs and DVDs (automatically spanning on multiple disks) and other performance improvements. The built-in backups is great for iTunes, iPhoto, system and other important data. It also now offers the ability to "go back in time" to view files and directories, as they were when the backups happened. Synchronization makes two folders identical by copying missing files and replacing older files Automatic compress your data on your computer to save hard drive space

Customer Review: Larry Grinnell's MyMac.com Review

Everyone hates doing backups. I know I do. Like most utility software packages, products like this are ignored until it is too late, and your precious data is gone. It's funny how diligent I was at work (I suppose my job being at stake had something to do with it...), yet I almost never backed up anything at home. I've been playing the odds for a lot of years, and have so far been pretty lucky.

The reality is that because nothing has happened, you get lulled into a false sense of security. When it finally does happen (drive crash, deleted a vital file, etc.), the cries of anguish are deafening. Again, it's never happened to me, but that doesn't mean it won't at the most inopportune moment possible, because that's how these things go. That's why I urge all of you out there in internetland to get yourself some backup software and one of those amazingly cheap external hard drives. There has never been a better time to buy one of these USB 2.0 packages of storage goodness. When you can by a 500 gigabyte drive (that's half a terabyte!) for under $125.00, and 120 giggers for around 50 bucks, there's absolutely no reason in the world not to embark on a solid backup plan right this very minute. Can't afford an external drive even at these prices? Most of your Macs probably have a CD and maybe even a DVD burner. A CD burner can put up to 700 megabytes on a disk, and a DVD burner, around 4.5 gigabytes (almost 9 GB on the double-layer disks). You know, these nice internal and external hard drives are coming down in price for a reason--they're built more cheaply, and are likely to fail more unpredictably than drives of the past. It might last 20 years, or it might go out in a blaze of glory tomorrow.

Data Backup 3.0 from Prosoft Engineering is a terrific backup program. It supports nearly every kind of media: CD, DVD, hard drives, network drives, and I'm sure even more. It's a real bargain at $59.00.

Installation is a breeze. It uses Apple's "package" method of installation. Just double-click the Data Backup.pkg file, answer a few questions, and it installs in a flash.

Help comes in the form of a detailed and well-illustrated 45 page file that opens when you select Help from the Help menu.

I decided to use my dual 2.0 GHz G5 PowerMac tower as my test subject. It has the optional 400 GB drive, so there's a lot to back up, though not as bad as it might seem, because I am not backing up the operating system or applications. I have the original media for those, so it seemed wasteful to back them up too, although you can if you want to.

That said, Data Backup 3.0 also gives you handy pre-written backup scripts so you can back up:

When you launch Data Backup 3.0, this is what the initial screen will look like, though without a volume name where you want to backup your files to.

Setup is pretty basic. I won't dwell on the preferences, as you probably won't need to go in there, and if you do, the Help file will guide you through what you might need to do.

If you want to keep things really simple, you won't even need to do much more than what you see in this initial screen, except for one teeny little thing--you need to tell Data Backup 3.0 where you want your backed up files to go: disk, network drive, or CD/DVD.

If it's a local disk or a network volume, go to the File>Set Default Destination menu item. I have chosen my external 500 gigabyte hard drive, originally named as 500 Gigger. Click the Select button and choose your drive. If you want to back up to a network volume, first you will need to mount your network volume as you normally would from the finder. It will show as an option when you click the Select button. When you have made your selection, click the Set button. The pull-down menu items under Quick Backup get named with your backup volume.

Now, it's just a matter of selecting the Quick Backup option you want. In this example, I am backing up my User files. Select All User Files to /Volumes/500 Gigger, and click the Start Now button. That's all there is to it. Really. It takes less time to just do it than it did to read the description. The screen below is what it looks like when the backup starts.

If you want to back up to CDs or DVDs, Data Backup 3.0 can do that, too, prompting you to insert a new disk when the one in the burner fills up. This is probably the best solution for files you really can't afford to lose, so you can get them onto convenient media, and then move them to a safe place away from your computer (a fire- and theft-resistant safe, a safe deposit box, a data archival center, etc.). Sure, you can do this with external hard drives, but that gets a little more expensive. From the Quick Backup menu, make your backup choice: iPhoto or Document files to CD/DVD.

When you click the Start Now button, the screen below pops up, prompting you to insert a CD or DVD.

You can also schedule when you perform your backups. Click the Schedule (calendar) icon on the main screen. The first screen that appears the one you use to set selected dates for backups. You can also choose an interval (every n minutes, hours, days, or weeks), starting at a designated time, selected events (backup at system startup, or when a destination or source volume appears on the system), or simply which days of the week do you want to back up, at a given time. The more automatic you make things, the more likely you will be to actually use it.

There, easy to do backups that if you did nothing else, you would have safely preserved data from your system to a secondary storage place, so if the unthinkable happened, you'd still have your data.

But wait, there's more! See that Show Backup Options triangle? That's where the real power of Data Backup 3.0 is hidden. Basically, if you don't need to do any more than what I described above, you don't need to go into the options. If you're like me, who has stuff stashed on multiple disks and maybe on network drives, and who knows what else, you will need this power.

Click the little triangle next to Show Backup Options and you will see what I mean.

In this window, you can choose more data sources to back up by clicking the "+" symbol in the Sources part of this window. It permits you to select complete volumes or just some folders on different volumes, or maybe folders not stored within your /Users folder. You can also select multiple destinations for your backed up files by adding more volumes or folders to the Destination field. The Destination Type pull-down lets you select Volumes or CD/DVD for backups.

There are extensive "rules" that can be applied for backing up files, which can be found in the Rules tab (see above). Data Backup 3.0 is also scriptable, using Automator.

Data Backup 3.0 can compress your backup files to make room for more backups and other files on your backup volume, and if you have sensitive information, you can encrypt your backups. There have been a ton of articles in the paper lately about personal information getting disseminated because backup tapes were stolen, and they were not encrypted. Well, here's your chance to protect your backup files (and maybe your job, if you are using this product for business). This program is so smart that a Preferences setting even automatically powers up your computer, performs the backup, and shuts it down again. Speaking of business (or for multi-computer families), Prosoft offers attractive multiuser licenses, too. Check out their product page at http://www.prosoftengineering.com/products/data_backup.php for complete pricing information.

With its default settings, a newer version of a file will overwrite the older version. In the Data Backup>Preferences menu, you can set Data Backup to perform more sophisticated Full/Incremental backups, where only the newer or replaced files are backed up, and older versions of files are retained in the backup archive. The Backup Type pull-down offers many backup methods: Simple Copy, Clone (make a bootable copy of your hard drive), Versioned, Full, Incremental, and Synchronize. Read the excellent online help manual for descriptions of each type and the advantages/disadvantages of each one. You can also download the version 2.1 manual at http://www.prosoftengineering.com/docs/DataBackupManual.pdf.

Depending upon how you configured your backup, restoration can be just as simple as dragging the contents of your backup drive back to your original drive. Otherwise, you can use the easy-to-use File>Restore feature to recover individual files or a complete volume, and if you do incremental backups, you can even restore your data to a specific date. I don't mean to give this feature the short shrift, but you really need to try it for yourself to really appreciate how well it works in your own personal backup/restoration scenario. Again, read the online help file for complete details.

As much as I hate doing backups, this program is as powerful as anything out there, and I come from a strong Retrospect ((http://www.emcinsignia.com/products/smb/retroformac/)) background (I used Retrospect for 10 years in my office and never lost a file that was backed up, but if you want to buy a version of Retrospect that will back up to a network drive, or back up to one of the zillions of different types of tape drives still out there, it'll set you back about 500 bucks). Data Backup 3.0 is strong, yet easy enough for me to set it, forget it, and perform my hated backups without having to think about it. I can't imagine giving higher praise. Gee, about the only negatives I could come up with were that the manual posted to the website was the previous version, but the descriptions of types of backups and program fundamentals were mostly the same, so it isn't a huge negative, and Data Backup 3.0 doesn't back up to non-mainstream devices, but if you have specialized needs like that, you are probably already using Retrospect or something like it already.

MyMac.com Rating 4.5 out of 5

(screen shots and original review at http://www.mymac.com/showarticle.php?id=3049 )

Customer Review: Good features, but a couple of shortcomings

The Pros:

--A comprehensive group of pre-defined backup sets. The software is determined to help you keep good backups. Kudos!!

--Ability to define your own backup sets, very simple UI for this. And the advanced features in defining backups are very good.

--Good scheduling for the backup sets. Can have separate schedules for the various sets.

--Response to email support inquiries has been fast and courteous.

The Cons:

--As reported by other reviewers, the software often asks you to re-enter the serial number. This is anoying at best, and fatal if it occurs during an automated backup in the middle of the night.

--Cryptic log file. You'll get a report that an error has occured during a backup, but the log file doesn't give much help in determining which files were involved.

The Summary:

Buy this software for the good UI and ease of use. But quality and reporting needs to improve before I can give it another star.

A must-have for Pats fans. Own the Special Edition DVD that celebrates the emerging New England football dynasty. Own the complete NFL Films highlights of Super Bowl 36 and Super Bowl 38, all for one great price. Reference ID:TC01-DVD-1013

Customer Review: dvd nfl- new england patriots super bowl champs 2-pack

this 2-pack, dvd was a really good portrayal of most important moments of both the super bowls, xxxvi and xxxviii. for the low price of this dvd, i am very satisfied with every feature.

Customer Review: ESSENTIAL FOR ANY PATRIOTS FAN

Although sadly there isn't full coverage of superbowl XXXVI, this double pack still has all the glory of the two most amazing moments for any long suffering patriot fan like me. you can relive that joy as we finally won a superbowl (WHAT? NEW ENGLAND? YEAH! IT HAPPENED!) over and over. I was disappointed with the lack of extra's and the incessant music got pretty irritating, but all the same, how can anyone be unhappy with watching the patriots defining times of glory after all the misery and disappointment of losing for so many years? You just got to buy it, you just do.

Marketing Conversations, And Conversation Stoppers

Marketing Conversations, And Conversation Stoppers

 by: Nina Ham

Where many marketing conversations get off-track are the ones you have with yourself, before you even pick up the phone or initiate the handshake. As independent professionals, usually at the helm of solo businesses, we sometimes find ourselves facing daunting internal obstacles as we try to begin our days marketing activity. With no one in our office-of-one to help with a confidence booster, an important resource to have in our self-management toolbox is a means of submitting the negative self-talk for an internal Second Opinion.

Lets imagine youre about to pick up the phone to follow up on a promising contact you met a few days ago. You recognize that the clammy hands gripping the phone are a sure sign that Fear of Rejection is in charge. Youve convinced yourself that the voice about to answer your call is just waiting for an excuse, any excuse, to hang up. What to do? Time for a Second Opinion!

The Department of Second Opinions draws on that part of yourself that knows enough to question the self-defeating voices by asking, How real is this? Buttressing its wisdom is the recognition that a conversation underlies every marketing activity as sub-text, a conversation thats usually unspoken. While we may tend to think of marketing as telling people what we do, in fact all our marketing activities implicitly ask a question: Do my services have potential value to you? When Fear of Rejection is in charge, the door slams shut on any potential conversation. Do my services have value? No! End of conversation. But what if you stay in the (unspoken) conversation and wonder, What are they actually saying no to, and why? They could be saying no to having the conversation now, or to a perceived misfit between their needs and your services, or even to the person they couldnt say no to 10 minutes earlier!

Viewed in this light, the imagined door slamming shut in your face shifts to a swinging door. Even if it shuts, youre likely to come away with useful information about the needs of this prospect, or about how to better position your services for your target client. Even if it shuts on him or her as a prospect, youve gotten the word out to one more person about your services.

Another conversation stopper, particularly seductive for service professionals: I Cant Sell Myself. This one actually negates any conversation from the outset, presuming instead that rather than talking, you have to convince or even manipulate the prospect. A Second Opinion might point to a more promising line of inquiry such as: How do I quickly and accurately inform myself about my prospects needs and present my services as an effective solution?

Shifting the internal voices abandoning the conversation-stoppers or door-slammers and instead framing a question - gives you a good chance of getting off on positive footing for the actual conversation. Its very helpful to remember that even if the prospect says no, this doesnt have to be your last opportunity. When you relax into the conversation, into listening and asking as well as telling, you may hear an interest or need that has no direct connection to your services but provides a basis for staying in touch. This will indeed have been a successful marketing conversation! Good luck.

Virtually Indestructible Key Board USB Win/os/linux/msd:grandt

Virtually Indestructible Key Board USB Win/os/linux/msd:grandt
The Virtually Indestructible Keyboard, a silicon-based flexible computer keyboard, features a unique combination of durability and soft, comfortable feel. The washable, "roll-able" keyboard has been called "the best thing to happen to typing since the backspace key." The VIK combines state-of-the-art technology with practical design to produce the perfect keyboard. The unique layout offers quick, reflexive typing action that is not only silent, but also more comfortable than standard hard plastic keyboards. The "flat-out" design eliminates negative-angle wrist stress, an unfortunate and impractical holdover from the archaic days of manual typewriters. The silicon-based material is impervious to most anything including water, coffee and cleaning solutions. From the classroom to the factory floor, the Virtually Indestructible Keyboard is poised to revolutionize how the world types.

Customer Review: very cool!

This is a great keyboard for houses with messy kids and/or lots of pet hair. It takes a while to train your fingers to type correctly (the keys don't go down and bounce back up like a traditional keyboard)--but you can't beat the ease of clean up on it!

Customer Review: true to its name

This most recent purchase was a replacement for the antique beta VIK that I had used for at least five years... the one that had survived tons of filth and debris, cat fur, crumbs, coffee spills, several bathtub dunkings, numerous travel abuses, etc. The base of the old left side shift key eventually fatigued (but still worked), and many of the most used letters had lost their bright visual lettering... I'm told by others that the touch seems odd at first... too quiet and less "clickety clackety" than a regular KB... but that's precisely what I love that about it... It may take a few minutes to adjust to it... but the first time you spill something on it, you'll really adore it...

The Ultimate Web Site Marketing Strategies That You Should Know

The Ultimate Web Site Marketing Strategies That You Should Know

 by: Van Tony Free, III

Most of us know that we need to advertise our products and our services, some of us still believe we are too small to invest in a advertising campaign. Now while a full-fledged marketing effort may be too much for your operation, it is however crucial to your success that you are involved in some kind of marketing activities. While putting a few strategies into action will make a big difference to your business and will certainly help in reaching your intended audience. However, if you do not spread the word about your business, no one will know you are there.

If you don't create a successful strategy for marketing your business, you can't build a profitable online business. It's therefore imperative to drive thousands of visitors to your web site, then convert them to paying customers.

How do you accomplish this?

Market With Consistency

Set up a clear marketing plan for your web site and stick to it. It is the foundation of your business.

Use Several Marketing Strategies

Do not put all your eggs into one basket by only depending on one marketing strategy. Just look at the latest Google update in which many commercial web sites which once had top rankings, dropped out of existence, instantly losing valuable sales.

By creating more than one strategy to market your web site, you can see which one works the best by attracting the most visitors.

Test Marketing

Continually test all your web site marketing strategies to see which one works the best. Eliminate those that are not profitable.

In addition to optimizing your web site and making sure the content you have included is interesting and valuable, your goal is to make sure that others can benefit from your services and products. But since your services or products are not necessarily for everyone, it doesn't make sense to promote a business to those who will probably never use it.

1. Email Course or Tutorial

Set up an autoresponder that will deliver quality information over a period of seven days. This means you have multiple chances of contacting your visitor and to promote your product or service at the same time.

2. Create a Newsletter

Most folks don't buy from you immediately but need to be contacted several times to put them in the buying mood. Place a subscription box on every page of your web site. Send out your newsletter every two weeks to keep in touch with your subscribers. Be sure to include original content along with new products you wish to introduce to them.

3. Word of Mouth

To help in making sure that word of mouth is included in your marketing efforts, each time you work with a client, ask if you can use them as a reference, especially if they've been happy with your services. Even better is obtaining a testimonial to include on your site. Personally, when clients comment favorably in response to something I've written, I immediately ask for permission to post their comments on my site. I then include a link to the client's web site so that we each gain in the process.

4. Gaining Access to the Right Audience

If you're not sure how to target in on the right audience, think about your area of expertise, the type of person you want to attract and where your own specialty lies. If you prefer providing your services to a large company, promote your products to a few major organizations. If you prefer working with the small to midsize company, focus in on the smaller companies.

5. A Powerful Article

There is nothing more effective than a powerful article. Almost every type of business has something to teach therefore coming up with an article is not difficult. Some people think that it's all been said before, believing they have nothing new to offer, but I absolutely disagree. We each have something of value to share with other people therefore it's only a matter of coming up with a unique way of saying it and running with the idea. Be daring and share something no one else knows about or present it in a way it's never been said before. Pay particular attention to your experiences and before long you'll have great ideas to write about. Articles are the perfect way of drawing attention to your web site, business, product and yourself.

6. Website Page Content

Spread your best keywords throughout the content of your pages. Include keywords in your H1 tag (main title) and H2, H3 tags (subheadings) as well as in the hyperlinks on your site and/or in outgoing links.

7. Networking with Others!

Are you making the most out of every networking opportunity whether it's at a meeting, at an informal gathering or during a brief presentation? If you've developed good rapport with someone on line, don't be afraid to ask for some support. You can usually read between the lines and tell if someone is open to your requests.

8. Pay per click (PPC) search engines

If you wish to generate traffic to your web site immediately, set up a Google Adwords or Overture campaign.

9. Your Presentation & Marketing Collaterals!

As you give thought to the methods that you plan on using for marketing your services don't be timid about trying something unique and certainly don't bypass inexpensive ways of promoting yourself. Continuously evaluate, test and refine your web site marketing strategies so that you can apply them to any product. These are the keys to building a successful marketing business.

Customer Review: Fine As Beans, But Misleading Advertising Here

The beans are fine... nothing exceptional. One of the reasons I selected this item as a gift was because of the attractive jar in which the beans are presented. As you have guessed by now, the jar is NOT included. In the end, you get a small plastic bag (as also pictured...) with chocolate-covered beans. It is okay, but not worth the price nor the additional shipping costs.

Customer Review: DO NOT BUY FOR A MAC!

I have used logitech mice on my Mac for many years. I didn't even notice on this product description that this mouse is NOT Mac compatible. It's their only mouse that I have seen that is not, so Mac users beware! I bought it, then had to return it. I specifically bought it for the shape and size, which is very comfortable for me, does not irritate my wrists and is ambidextrous. I actually wanted a corded mouse because they are lighter and easier to use for longer periods for people with wrist problems. Oh, well... I'll start reading the reviews on the cordless versions with similar shape/size.

Customer Review: Simple enough for beginners, Powerful enough for Professionals

I started this book slightly skeptical. After reading almost all there is out there on SEO, I didn't think there was anything new to be learned--I was pleasantly surprised. Jerri Ledford takes readers from the very basics of how search engines work to the advanced marketing techniques that can give you an edge over the competition. Knowing exactly why something is being done helps to understand the how much better. eginners will have no problem following step-by-step through the process. This book isn't just for those new to SEO and online marketing, however. Ms. Ledford continues to delve deeper and deeper into the subject and it is highly unlikely that anyone, including those who consider themselves experts, will finish this book without having learned something new and beneficial. I would suggest that anyone who plans on marketing online have a copy of this book on their reference shelf. You are sure to return to it over and over again.

Customer Review: This book seriously boosted my search ranking!

This is a fantastic book on SEO...the best I've ever seen. I have done quite a bit of SEO writing before, but now I really understand all the ins and outs of the process. The SEO Bible is very well written, making it easy for both novices and experts to use the tips to improve their results. After just a few weeks, my website ([...]) went from search engine anonymity to the 1st page on all of my keywords. The SEO Bible is THE book to turn to if you are looking to get a better understanding of how search engines work and how to improve your website's rankings.

Avoid Marketing Stagnation Using 3 Basic Methods

You joined an online marketing program, placed some ads, and then thought, now what? The majority of new marketers pause at this point, and many never come back.

You joined an online marketing program, placed some ads, and then thought, now what? The majority of new marketers pause at this point, and many never come back.

Some years ago, I attended a bump school ski lesson in Breckenridge, Colorado. My instructor emphasized keeping the weight down hill on the skis, leaning forward. He said if you fall, better to fall forward, not backward or sideways, but FORWARD. The forward weight, and even the forward fall, indicates advancement. With the earnest determination needed to ski bump runs, stay forward, stay alive in your marketing efforts! Will your business stagnate at this critical time? No! Now commit to sustained focus in your marketing education. Commit to sustained action that becomes second nature. Lock your ON switch in place! Often finding myself in this dynamic, my web business excites me, seeming more like play.

What simple, powerful tools can you use to maintain the forward dynamic?

Start a newsletter. When you first hear that statement, you might think, Well thats fine for experienced marketing professionals. I would not know where to begin to create a newsletter or get a list of people to send it to. I understand. But do not let these thoughts deter you. You CAN start or obtain a newsletter! With a little searching and reading, learn how. An ongoing email series that you offer as a marketing tips newsletter, for example, attracts interested subscribers. Clich by now, the fortune in the follow up rings true. Your prospects need inspirational, repetitive exposure. Time and time again I see responses from prospects after several contacts.

Get your own website. Most affiliate marketing programs provide referral pages to receive responses from advertising. Your own website enables you to compete with successful internet business owners. It gives you the ability to develop a mailing list, the core of your marketing success. Developing link popularity, many website owners use link exchange or partner directories, linking to similar websites. This not only increases traffic through the added links, but also improves search engine ranking.

Add content to your website. Content consists of useful information that people want to find on your website, often in the form of articles. Web marketers constantly publish informative articles they would love placed on your website. This provides a win-win situation because their articles attract visitors to your website, and bring more people back to the authors websites as the articles include their links. Ideally, publish your own articles and develop credibility and popularity in your service.

You now have a complete package. These tools provide the basics to manifest your marketing goals. A website with valuable content attracts visitors interested in your offers, and brings newsletter subscribers. Increased sales give you more time and money to enhance your website content. Improving website content and popularity again feeds back to more sales and a larger subscriber base. This way, successful internet marketers grow their businesses! With patient focus, implement and build with these tools. Maintain persistence and attain your goals!

Ammo, Marbles 1/2" 72 Ct.

Ammo, Marbles 1/2" 72 Ct.
In 1954 TRUMARK® introduced the first ammo that was really fun to shoot. The Tracer Brand Ammo is a must. White marbles reflect light so that the eye can "trace" the ammo's path like a tracer bullet. Seeing the ammo clearly as it heads toward the target makes it easier to become an expert shooter. The bright white color also makes Tracers easy to find so they can be shot many times. The tracer's large 1/2" size is easy to grip so that the power bands can be pulled smoothly with less hand strain. Use Tracers for target practice and quickly improve your scores.

Customer Review: good sling shot ammo

The marbles are reflectively coated and pretty visable except against snow. The shipping cost was out rageous and I missed it as it was one of these better with deals and the other companies shipping cost was fine.

2007 Grammy Nominees

2007 Grammy Nominees
Customer Review: Loved it!

I am addicted to this CD. The combination of music is excellent and it has become my favorite Ipod album.

Customer Review: Excellent "mix tape" for 2007!

I ended up with this CD by accident, having forgotten to cancel my monthly selection with BMG. I decided to keep it though and I'm so glad I did. If you are like me and love a good mix tape, and you are still enjoying the Top 40 Grammy winners of this year, then definitely pick up this CD.

It starts with Gnarls Barkley's Crazy, a song I found my mistake on someone's MySpace page, but I added it to a mix tape (CD) and played it nonstop for months. Next up is the oh so hot Mary J. Blige with Be Without You. She could sing the alphabet, and I'd probably buy a copy. The smooth sounds of Corinne Bailey Rae's Put Your Records On rounds out this trio.

Next up is John Mayer, providing a great transition to a few rock and pop songs from the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Justin Timberlake. Prefer a bit of country? The Dixie Chicks (who took home a ton of awards this year) and Carrie Underwood are up next.

Imogean Heap's Hide and Seek takes us into the next genre of music. This is such a great song...it's a mix of Enya, Bjork, and Tori. This song alone made me have to have her album. Shocked that she was up for Best New Artist. Her CD came out in 2005 and still isn't getting radio time. But oh well, you sometimes have to look past the popularity contest that radio stations force us into.

The next round of music is a set of hot women singers who have been rocking the stations all summer long. Christina Aguilera, Natasha Bedingfield (another noteworthy new comer), Sheryl Crow (long time fav), Pink (still amazing us with this album), and KT Tunstall (another great newbie getting air time).

As you can see, the placement and order of all of these songs is superb and really provides you with a fun listening experience. James Blunt is up next with a song I was just about sick of hearing every five minutes in the car, You're Beautiful. This album made me fall in love with it all over again. John Legend follows, someone I had not yet heard much from. I will definitely be checking out more of him soon. Good ole Paul McCartney is next followed by Daniel Powter (his song is one I'm definitely sick of hearing thanks to American Idol. I'm so glad they didn't use it this year.)

So if you are like me, skip Powter and get ready to pick up the beat again with The Black Eyed Peas, Death Cab for Cutie, The Fray, Keane (one of my all time favorite bands), and end with a bit from the PussyCat Dolls.

This album has it all. No jazz or classical here, but the Grammys has a reputation of throwing those guys on the back burner knowing the younger crowd won't listen. Although there were some excellent performers left off this album, the 23 songs you will find hear offer up something for everyone. Like I said, the arrangement of the songs definitely helps and makes this CD one worth buying and popping in the car for long road trips.

Most of these songs are still getting air time on the radio because of their wins, but if you like having the option of skipping over a few and repeating the ones you like best then by all means, buy this CD!

Play Ball!: Basic Pitching

Play Ball!: Basic Pitching
The "Play Ball! Basic Pitching" DVD with Ray Romano and Reggie Smith is an authentic Little League® baseball guide that teaches basic pitching techniques, strategies, tips, practice drills, and safety. It's hosted by Ray Romano from TV's "Everybody Loves Raymond". Run time: 40 minutes.

Customer Review: simple but helpful

This is a good training video, I recommend it for kids and parents. The pitching mechanics section is good, but he skips a couple key items(i.e. both the position of the stride foot, and tucking the elbow on the glove hand, during delivery). However, it gives simple straight forward instructions that are easy to follow. I liked the section on types of pitches and grips, very good. I also appreciated the message that Little Leaguers should not throw curve balls. To paraphrase he states, "kids are going to try to throw curve balls anyway, so lets not put our heads in the sand and pretend it doesn't exist, lets show them how to do it properly so they don't hurt their arms." I agree. He strictly talks about the overhand curve, he doesn't teach a slider for good reason. Kids shouldn't try to throw it at all.

The tips from the pros were a little lame, but they're pros and I'm not.

A great book to go with this is "The Little League Guide to Correcting the 25 Most Common Mistakes" by John Montelelone.

PlayStation 2 Cordless Action Controller

PlayStation 2 Cordless Action Controller
The Logitech Cordless Action Controller for Playstation 2 lets you stop tripping over your game wires. It's got the control you need for better gaming, combined with incredible wireless freedom. Play your favorite games up to 30 feet away! Requires 2 AA batteries

Customer Review: DELAY OF GAME, BUTTON LAG

The feel, size, weight, balance are all excellent on this controller. The joysticks have a non-slip coating that is excellent. I will return this device because of one reason, the tenth of a second delay on the buttons. It is just enough to make action games like "Black" twice as difficult to play. It is a real shame because everything else about this device is fantastic. One more small complaint, the pictures here show the buttons on the right are color coded to match original controler, mine were not. They are marked with circle, square, triangle and X, but all in black and white. The really sad news is that I have not found any other wireless that is any better.

Customer Review: This is the controller you want. Period.

It all started when my buddy Dave and I were trying to rock some Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, using his old, busted Nyko wireless controllers. Cries of "Oh come on. I was blocking! Look. Look at it, I got the stupid button held down. I never took my finger off it!", "Why is my guy moving, I'm not even pressing anything!", and "Why does this clown keep jumpi.... yeap, and the controller's dead. Look. I keep hitting buttons, and there's noth... oh wait. There it goes." filled the room.

So the quest to obtain wireless controllers that were actually decent was born. I checked Amazon, and these had the highest rating, so I decided to go out on a whim, and drop 60 dollars plus for two PS2 controllers. 30 dollars each is a ludicrous amount of money to spend on controllers for a system that's pretty much obsolete, but you know what? Worth every penny. Every. Single. Penny.

They feel great, they're responsive, they have a nice weight to them, and best of all? They work. They never go on the fritz, there's zero lag between button presses and game action, the batteries last a long time, and they never lose connection.

I've read a few negative reviews on these. Yeah, the manual that comes with them is not the greatest. (If you even want to call it a manual.) It's a folded piece of multilingual instruction sheet crammed inside the cardboard of the blister pack, but it's not exactly quantum physics to figure out. You plug the end that looks like it goes into the PS2 into the PS2, and you mash the buttons on your controller with your thumbs while you deliver repeated beatings to your buddy Dave with zero lag, and zero headaches. That's it. No manual required, really.

The only thing that I would call a downside with these controllers, is the fact that the controllers and the receivers appear to have a unique radio ID.

I have two of these controllers myself. (Yeah, me and Dave liked em so much, I bought two for myself.) You have them both plugged into the deck at the same time. They're not like regular cordless units where whatever controller you hit first is player one. Whatever controller Player 1 was on when you plugged them both in, will be player 1 indefinitely. Not a problem, right? I agree, it's not a problem, per se. But you have two controllers that look exactly the same. You grab one, sit your behind down on the couch, grab your tasty beverage, and prepare to unleash a most furious beatdown upon Stryker, with all his throw-happy computer controlled cheating, only to realize you've got "Player 2". Can't switch em, can't do anything. You physically have to go dig the other controller out of the couch cushions, because unless you've got someone else with you, the controller in your hand is doing absolutely nothing.

That minor setback aside, go get these things. They're the best PS2 controller ever. Period. You want these. Ignore all other controllers. I've tried em, they're garbage. This is where it's at.

Customer Review: Great for Games, Ok for Music

Let me start off by saying, for gaming i don't think there is a better headset out there. The virtual 7.1 works flawlessly and the mic on this thing is crystal clear. Its relatively comfortable, although I start to sweat around my ears around the 1 hour mark. Also if you are considered one with a small head, i might go try it on first. I have what you call a large head with some hair and i have this thing cranked all the way down. Works for me but not so sure about others.

Music - Very mediocre. i know it is optimized for GAMING but i still feel it fell short in this department. don't expect to be blown away or even satisfied if you want to listen to music a lot on headphones.

All in all its a solid headset, and is well worth the money if you are into gaming.

UPDATE:so it has been 4 days and the right side of the headphones has stopped working. i am very surprised/annoyed because i handled these things like a baby and still went out on me. i thought it was something funky with vista so i turned on the "flip sound" so the left side plays on the right and visa versa and no sound still. plugged it into a friends computer and same thing. not very happy that i spent $100 on these and they fail within such a short amount of time.
